About Cross Timbers Family Services

Cross Timbers Family Services (CTFS) is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing hope, help and healing to victims of violent crime, including domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. CTFS began as Cross Timbers Crisis Center in February of 1991. A group of volunteers started the crisis center with the Erath County Sheriff’s Department administering the Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) grant.

In 1993 the Sherwood and Myrtie Foster’s Home for Children overtook the administration of the VOCA grant and in January of 1993, the crisis center was renamed Cross Timbers Family Services.

After being a service branch of the Foster’s Home for many years, CTFS was incorporated and obtained its 501 (c) (3) nonprofit status from the IRS in 2004. In June 2005, a local board was created to help increase community awareness and visibility as well as increase fundraising possibilities.

Today the agency employees 5 full-time staff, 1 part-time staff, supervises counseling and other intern(s), and utilizes approximately 15 trained volunteers. The staff, which includes the President/CEO, Staff Counselor, Bilingual Legal Advocate, Community Development Coordinator, and Services Coordinator, provides direct services to victims of crime. Volunteers, along with one staff person, maintain a 24-hour hotline and victim assistance services on a rotating basis.

  •  Office of the Attorney General – Sexual Assault Prevention & Crisis Services
